Passeig de Lluís Companys

The site of the former Barcelona courthouse, situated in Passeig de Lluís Companys, is a place that guards the memory of many ancient lives. Over the course of history, a number of buildings with markedly different urban ideologies have been located there. The site, which was home to a medieval necropolis in the 9th century, housed an explosion of greenery from the 16th to 19th century in the form of the Jardí de la Fusina. Later, at the end of the 19th century, the space was transformed with the construction of the Palau de les Belles Arts, which remained standing until the mid 20th century. In the 1960s, and up until five years ago, the site was home to the old Barcelona courthouse. Now awaiting a new transformation, this space is set to become the scene of one of the installations for Model. Architectures Festival, with a focus on the Between Materials section.
